The Project - Expected Results
The project will contribute to rationalise logistics and transportation within local SMEs
systems and to integrate ICT solutions in transport services providing local administrations
and enterprises with instruments to evaluate and set up industrial policies.
The creation of logistic models fitting the examined local productive systems and based on the
existing infrastructure and platforms, will allow SMEs cost reductions due to the reduction of
delays, errors and paper documents, an immediate information access, and a speeding up of goods
and information fluxes. This will imply an improvement in the enterprises’ competitiveness.
Moreover the project will spread knowledge and experience in the field of logistics and contribute
therefore to a broadening of logistic culture and to the development of sustainable transport
policies in order to help remote regions in catching up and thereby avoiding economic and
territorial distance with EU countries, enhancing socio-economic and cultural cohesion.
The identification of ICT solutions will allow each participant to consolidate economic relations
with the whole partnership and the creation of a virtual forum (web page) will make it easier for
the information to flow among the partners and the project collaborators.
Finally the project promotes innovative measures (set of services for transport rationalisation
and roads congestion reduction), which will result in the transport’s environmental impact being
reduced and the quality of life improved.
The project aims at proposing a way of rationalising the logistic and transportation services
with in a cluster integrating and enlarging, also trough ICT solutions, the transport services
and handing it over to local administrations and companies that would be the most suitable
instruments in order to assess the cluster characteristics and to realize effective industrial
politics.
The realizations of logistic models, taking into account the existing infrastructures and logistic
platforms; will allow important cost reductions for the SMEs due to the time reductions, access to
information and so swifter movement of goods. This will result in an increased competitiveness of
the enterprises.
The participation of partners from 7 European Countries will facilitate the diffusion of knowledge
and experiences in the field of logistics. This represents the path to build a "logistic culture"
which will concur in the definition of sustainable transportation policies. These will decrease the
physical and economic distance for the more peripheral zones of the European Union and support a
greater socio-economic cohesion.
Finally the project, through the rationalization of the traffic and the use of existing
infrastructures, will reduce the environmental impacts of transportation and increase the quality
of life.
